Sharp tools. Soft edges. An independent studio, obsessed with the details.
Derivative makes focused iPhone apps with one job each and nothing in the way. First up: Moss, green noise for sleep, study, and focus.
One job each. Every app does a single thing exceptionally well, and every addition has to justify not being cut.
Private by design. Your data isn't the product. Each app's privacy policy is short enough to actually read.
Small and honest. Free tiers that stay genuinely useful, and nothing engineered to eat your attention.
The bar every app clears.
Before anything ships, it has to pass the studio standard. No exceptions, including ours.
Native Swift, no wrappers. Built for iPhone the way iPhone apps should be built.
One screen wherever possible. Every addition has to justify not being cut.
Fast to open, calm to use. No loading screens to stare at, nothing engineered to keep you staring.
A privacy policy you can read in a minute. Short because there's little to disclose.
A free tier you'd actually keep. Paying should unlock more, never un-break less.
Small studio. On purpose.
About the name: in calculus, the derivative measures change. We build small, focused apps, each doing one thing exceptionally well, across whatever categories the work takes us.
Each one is small, honest software that puts your privacy first and keeps its free tier genuinely useful. We'd rather earn a place on your home screen than another minute of your attention.
There's no growth team here, no roadmap theater, and no one to impress but the person actually using the app. That's the whole business model: make something worth keeping.
